The Ministry of Education
Within the Finnish Government, the Ministry of Education and Culture is responsible for developing educational, science, cultural, sport and youth policies and international cooperation in these fields. The Minister of Education and Science, Mrs. Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, is responsible for education and science policies and the Minister of European Affairs, Culture and Sport, Mr. Sampo Terho, for cultural, sport and youth policies and financial aid for students.

The Finnish National Board of Education
The Finnish National Board of Education (FNBE) is the national agency subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Culture. FNBE has a wide range of tasks related to the development of education all through pre-primary and basic education, general upper secondary education, vocational education and training, formal adult education and training, liberal adult education (incl. folk high schools, study centres, summer universities) and basic education in the arts.
FNBE is responsible for drawing up the national core curricula for basic and general upper secondary education and the framework for vocational qualifications and competence-based qualifications.

CIMO is an organisation for international mobility and cooperation, providing expertise and services to clients at home and abroad. Established in 1991, CIMO is an independent agency under the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.
