Employment in private daycare centres

Employment contract and terms and conditions of employment in private daycare centres

There are close to 1,000 private daycare centres run by private companies, associations and organisations in Finland. The collective agreement that is observed in private daycare centres is either
  • The AVAINTA collective agreement of the employers’ association Avaintyönantajat ry or
  • The Collective Agreement for the Private Social Services Sector
The collective agreement to be observed depends on which employers’ association the employer belongs to. The Collective Agreement for the Private Social Services Sector is generally applicable, which means its provisions must be observed also in daycare centres where the employer is not a member of either employers’ association.

General applicability means that the employer cannot observe employment terms and conditions that are weaker than the provisions of this collective agreement.
