Voting was completely electronic for the first time. Another new feature was a single voting period, meaning that advance voting and the actual election day were abandoned.
- The turnout was slightly lower than in the last election. However, our members were once again admirably active, as the turnout of large trade unions is typically below 30 percent. 36,8 is therefore a good result. Warm thanks to everyone who participated in the election in a way or another, says Juha Makkonen, OAJ’s Membership Service Manager responsible for the election.
Information about those elected to the council has now been published on the council elections’ website oaj.fi/valtuustovaalit. We will reveal the election result in more detail when the result has been confirmed. The OAJ Executive Board will discuss the election results at its meeting on Wednesday, April 1.
The new council will be introduced to its duties in April, and the first council meeting will be on May 6-8, 2026. The council’s first tasks are, i.a. to decide on the amount of the membership fee for 2027, elect the Executive Board and a president for the organization. The current president, Katarina Murto, has not yet received any challengers by the time this news was published.
