Second settlement proposal for the labour dispute at universities of applied sciences

National Conciliator Anu Sajavaara has submitted a settlement proposal late Sunday evening for the labour dispute concerning the collective agreement at universities of applied sciences. The parties to the agreement, FEE, OAJ and YTN will each submit their own responses by Tuesday.

OAJ’s decision-making bodies will discuss the settlement proposal. The National Conciliator has asked the parties to submit their response by 6 p.m. on June 16.  At this stage, we cannot provide any further details about the proposal. It will only be made public after the responses.

The National Conciliator’s first settlement proposal was received on May 11. OAJ approved the proposal for a new collective agreement for universities of applied sciences, as did YTN. However, the employer FEE rejected it, so no settlement was reached.

OAJ has issued nineteen strike warnings to universities of applied sciences in the first strikes in their history. Eighteen 24 -hour strikes have been organized, spread across more than 30 locations and affected nearly 3, 000 teachers across Finland.
